Sep 24, 2020 Sep 07, 2010 Pics of any proof marks and if you can find any letters on the serial number (may or may not be). DWM is Deutsche Waffenund Munitionsfabriken. Without pics and only the G-F condition that you state; I'd say somewhere between 700-1300, which is a pretty wide range. After the end of WWI and the weapons limitations imposed by the Treaty of Versailles DWM began limited production. The nominal 'Commercial' serial number range began around #75,000 and contained many 1920 and 1921 Lugers in both 7.65mm and 9mm.

1. Desirable 1908 DWM (Deutsche Waffen und Munitionsfrabriken) Commercial Luger PistolSerial number “57072“, 9mm Lugar cal., 4” round bbl., blue finish. walnut checkered tips. This is a fine example of the highly collectable Model 1908 “Commercial” Luger as produced by the DWM factory. These Luger’s were produced from 1908 through 1913 and were sold under both commercial and military contracts. This model of Luger can be distinguished from the later models, based on two notable features: 1) made without a hold-open catch and 2) no stock lug on the rear of the grip. The top of the chamber area is blank with the rear toggle having the DWM logo markings. The right side of the barrel extension is blank and the left side and underside of the barrel have the Commercial Crown “N” proofs. Since this is a commercial contract pistol, it is numbered in the commercial style verses the military fashion consequently the various parts are marked with the full serial number “57072” only on the front of the frame and the underside of the barrel, with the last two digits (72) numbered on the recoil lug, the underside of the side plate, the side of the trigger, the takedown lever, the lower left side of the breechblock and the very rear of the toggle. These pistols all exhibited an excellent high polish, “rust blued finish” with straw colors on the small arts and were fitted with checkered walnut grips. It is fitted with a correct nickel plated, wooden base magazine with no markings.
